Archives: Events

Like Uncle Ben, we at Truelogic believe that “with great power comes great responsibility.”

That’s why we all finished our tasks before 7 PM on Wednesday (July 3, 2019) to make our way to the Greenbelt 3 cinema. Everyone wanted to be on time to see their favorite webhead in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Those of us who left the office minutes before the premiere wished we could swing from building to building to get to the theater faster.

Thankfully, everyone got their tickets, drinks, popcorn, and 3D glasses before the flick started. And boy, were we in for a ride. Literally.

Your Friendly Neighborhood

True to the format of previous Spider-Man movies, Spider-Man: Far From Home was both an action-packed thrill ride and an emotional rollercoaster. Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, we saw the rookie superhero go through the motions of balancing his teenage life and saving the world once more.

We gasped in awe as Spidey dealt with his foes with finesse, felt gripping in our hearts every time he fell, and cheered him on as he got back up stronger. It’s the web slinger's resilience that makes every Spider-Man movie so relatable and inspiring.

After this first taste of the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), most of us were excited about the adventures our new band of heroes will go through. The post-credit scenes had everyone either howling or speechless in shock. As the lights came on, the theater was filled with whispers of theories, emotional conversations about the best boy Peter Parker, and the "rocking" experience we had watching the film in 4DX.

The 4DX Experience

It was the first time that the company went to a 4DX theater for movie night. And it’s all thanks to the great people in our Human Resources (HR) and Admin Department. All we had to do was register, get our food and drinks, and enjoy the immersive, four-dimensional experience.

Some of us haven’t been to a 4DX cinema before, so we were curious and excited about what was to come. The mists of water, the rumbling and rocking of the chairs, and the in-your-face 3D elements had us dodging fictional rocks and pillars as if we were part of the film!

The Webs that Bind

Last week’s successful movie night is just one of our many activities at Truelogic that bring different departments (and shifts) together for some bonding time outside of work. It’s a chance for employees to share their fandom, whether it’s for movies, books, games, or other hobbies. At Truelogic, you’ll surely find people to nerd out with.

Now that we’re back at our desks, we can’t help but anticipate the next movie we’ll watch for Truelogic movie night, or what other activities are in store for us. But one thing’s for sure: Spider-Man definitely inspired us to work harder and exceed expectations.

Heart-shaped balloons, restaurant promos, chocolate boxes with special designs, and inflated flower prices could only mean one thing: Valentine’s Day. It’s a day for everyone to show their love and appreciation for others. Not one to fall behind, TrueLogic came up with activities that spanned two days.

POP THE QUESTION

On the evening of February 14, 9:43 PM to be exact, employees received the first of ten questions for the Pop the Question quiz. The last question was sent on February 15, just a few hours before Town Hall. Everyone was encouraged to answer the questions that tested the employees’ knowledge of TrueLogic. With movie passes on the line, people from every department scrambled to be the first to answer correctly.

Winners were announced atTown Hall on the 15th. The Content Team took the lead with four members bagging the corresponding prize. The Sales Department also had more than one member on the roster of winners.

HERE’S THE COMPLETE LIST OF POP THE QUESTION WINNERS:

  • Andy, Content
  • Jill, Sales
  • Arel, OPS
  • Anica, Finance
  • Joshua, Motion Graphics
  • RK, R&D
  • Daphne, Content
  • Miguel, Sales
  • Katrina Tankeh, Content
  • Micah, Content

LINK BUILDING ACTIVITY

In between announcing Pop the Question winners, a link building activity also took place. Everyone was divided into groups and the groups were tasked with creatinga structure that best-represented TrueLogic’s core values. To make things a tad challenging, each team could only flesh out their ideas with nothing more than popsicle sticks, clear adhesive tape, plastic straw string, and a box cutter.

The room was abuzz with energy – the thought of the upcoming long Chinese New Year weekend likely fueled everyone’s enthusiasm, as well! Ideas flew left and right. And, although the final products proved that not all engineering skills are created equal, the TrueLogic team is as creative as it gets.

IMG_7426-1030x687

Choosing a winner was not an easy feat for the judges but in the end, only three groups could come out on top. The honor with 1st place and a P 4,000 prize was group 3, comprised of Chris D, Zhai, Jimmy, Nyj, Lally, Delle, Cha and Andy. The team recreated the Philippine Islands and attached 6 sticks vertically, roughly where Metro Manila is, to represent TrueLogic’s core values. At the end of the vertical sticks were strips of plastic straw to represent TrueLogic’s expansion.

Landing in 2nd place, earning the prize of P 3,000 pesos was group 6, and sliding into 3rd place, grabbing the P 2,000 prize was group 1.

Love can mean a million different things and be manifested in a million different ways. At TrueLogic, this love is manifested by showing how much the employees know about and care for the company. Until the next popsicle stick idea!

Last May 19 and 20, we stepped away from our desks and headed to the Olympic Point Island Resort in Tingloy, Batangas, where we held #SweatEatOut2018, Truelogic’s annual summer outing. Of course, it’s not just any outing; the company’s musicians and athletes got their chance to shine in this year’s activities.

BOARDING, BUMPS, AND BUSES

We left Makati quite early and headed south for Batangas. The trip took much longer than expected when our buses encountered a few bumps on the road – literally. But busted air conditioners and steep roads were not enough to dampen our spirits. By the time we made it to the boats that would ferry us to the island, we were all very excited to see what was in store for us.

A WARM WELCOME

It’s hard to miss the resort as you approach the island – just watch out for the white and blue structure sporting colorful flags (and maybe the giant tarp with its name on it, too). Loud fanfare welcomed our arrival, courtesy of the #SweatEatOut2018 planning committee, who arrived the day before to make sure everything was set.

With a nice fruity drink to cool off and a lunch buffet waiting for us shortly after, we finally settled down after our long trip.

FINDING TEAM-OS AND OPENING HAKAS

Instead of hosts Keith, Will, and Coey grouping us, we found our teammates through an icebreaker activity designed to help us know each other better. We were then sorted into six teams: Green, Yellow, Red, White, Light Blue, and Dark Blue.

For the first activity, each team presented its own version of haka (war cry performance). All teams gave unique and astounding presentations, but the win went to the Light Blue Team, who wowed the audience with their lifts. They earned an advantage for one of the activities.

Teams gave their all for their haka, but the win went to the Light Blue Team.

TEAM BUILDING GAMES

The activities continued with the treasure chest, little boxes containing the order of activities for each team. Each box is secured by a combination lock, which the team has to unlock by solving a set of riddles.

The different activities took place in different areas of the resort. At the volleyball court, our memories were tested as teams pieced together Truelogic’s history and milestones, and completed a puzzle featuring the latest logos of the departments.

Team-building-games

At the basketball court, teams strategized and worked together to complete the Five-Man Strut. Down at the shore, teams swam and paddled to achieve the fastest time for the Kayak-Swim Relay.

WATER GUN FIGHT!

We then gathered for one last challenge: a water gun fight. Equipped with paper bibs and water guns, teams had to douse rival teams. The team with the five cleanest members wins. As a reward for winning the haka activity, the Light Blue team got a bigger, more powerful water gun, on top of their individual guns.

Water-gun-fight

For 15 minutes, #SweatEatOut2018 turned into Holi 2018 as everyone was doused with an array of colors. All shyness and hesitation disappeared as each team fought to protect their teammates and spray opposing teams.

After the games, most of us proceeded to Olympic Point’s spacious (and salty) pools. Others assembled for billiards, kayak, and basketball.

AWARDING, NIGHT SOCIALS, AND TRUE SESSIONS

At sundown, we all began preparing for dinner and True Sessions. The hosts, together with General Manager Bernard and CEO Itamar, announced the winners. In 3rd Place was the Green Team, and ahead by one point was the Light Blue Team at 2nd Place. Despite their weak start at the haka, the Yellow Team made a strong comeback and emerged victorious.

This year’s winning team, the Yellow Team.

For the rest of the night, Truelogic was entertained by our very own band and musically inclined colleagues, who kept the party going until the wee hours. Shout out to Jigger, who rapped some lines he made just for Truelogic!

True-Sessions

It was an unforgettable experience as many of us loosened up and mingled with colleagues we never really get to speak to on a regular day. With the drinks, music, and the rest of our Truelogic colleagues, it was safe to say that everyone enjoyed the night.

LEAVING THE OLYMPIC

Those who could ignore their hangovers took advantage of the rest of the morning, enjoying the amenities and joining the board games, Bingo, and other morning activities planned.

Unfortunately, we couldn’t stay there forever. By noon, we were on the boats heading back to the city. Overall, #SweatEatOut2018 was a fun-filled experience that brought everyone together with music, food, and games.

Until next year! See you at #SweatEatOut2019!

It’s easy to forget about health when we’re too wrapped up in work.

Luckily, the TrueLogic family knows that health shouldn’t be taken for granted. To keep its employees happy and healthy (and well supplied with freebies), TrueLogic held its annual Day of Health and Wellness on August 31, 2017.

The annual health day is a way to alert employees of their health condition. Our lifestyle partners set up booths in the hallway, ready to check if we were in tip-top shape. There were goodies for everyone, too.

 KEEPING SENSES ALIVE

A bright smile is not enough – the entire mouth must be clean and healthy, too. Since brushing alone won’t work, our partners from Oracare came to the rescue! They presented employees with products to help us get sparkling teeth and healthy smiles.

Living in the age of smartphones and computers, we all see the importance of eye health. Recognizing this, our partners from Paterno Eye Care Center gave employees free eye check-ups. They also brought a variety of eyeglasses and frames for those needing an eyewear upgrade or looking for that extra specs appeal.

We did not forget our skin, either – it is, after all, our first line of defense. To supply our skin care needs, Simply Nature Organics and India Herbs and Supplements brought fragrant oils and skincare products. Simply Nature Organics’ selection of essential oils, mosquito repellants, underarm whitening creams, and anti-bacterial sprays reminded us how keeping our skin flawless feels good.

 CHECKING SIGNS OF WELLNESS

Now, flawless skin may be a sign of health, but health shouldn’t be just skin deep. We also need to eat good food to achieve a healthy weight and maintain proper digestion. With Yakult and Gardenia coming in to offer their products, we were in good hands. Those who bought Yakult’s milk not only got a good deal, but were given extra bottles free of charge.

A healthy diet isn’t hard to reach, but it can be difficult to eat good food that doesn’t taste good. Our friends from Gardenia believe the same thing. Their tasty bread samples were filling and provided the fiber we need. Also, since too much of the good stuff can be bad, Gardenia offered a free Body Mass Index check to see if employees need to trim down or bulk up.

But weight! Weight isn’t the only indicator of health; blood pressure and blood sugar content are strong factors. To take care of these two, our partners from Health Allies monitored the employees’ BP and conducted blood sugar testing. Prosel Pharma Inc. and Pascual Laboratories gave away vitamin samples and C-Lium Fiber products, respectively.

Once in a while, our body needs pampering. The stress from home and work can cause body aches and muscle tension. Our partners from White Flower Embrocation were heaven sent (with their heavenly scented oils and treatments). They offered a free massage to relax our muscles and soothe our aches. At TrueLogic, employees work hard – we deserved a few minutes of relaxation.

GETTING INTO THE GROOVE

Of course, we did not stop at checking our health-o-meters – we pumped them up, too! The Hip Hop Class by Anytime Fitness gave employees a chance to have fun while sweating it out on the rooftop. The energy was so high that not even the rain could stop them. (And we discovered that some of our colleagues had great moves!) Dancing together forged friendships among colleagues.

Of course, it’s not health and wellness day if there’s no food! TrueLogic employees shared a hearty meal that night during the Birthday Kainan. But it wasn’t your ordinary buffet; it was a balanced menu of healthy dishes.

At TrueLogic, health goes beyond the physical. By ensuring our mental, emotional and social well-being as well, TrueLogic Health and Wellness Day 2017 revived our spirit for fun and our drive to carry out daily challenges with ease.

If there’s anything that the TrueLogic family is good at, it’s – well – everything!

Last June 10 to June 11, 2017, the company hung their SEO hats for two days and took a five-hour drive to Hotel Brizo Resort, Bataan. Other than digital marketing professionals, we never knew we had a slew of musicians, rappers, bartenders, sports mavens, quick-witted Jenga players, karaoke kings and queens, and even a dodgeball whiz with superhuman moves straight out of The Matrix.

The company outing was a display of skills, talent, and individuality like no other.

5AM might have been too early for the night owls, but the team was as vibrant as always in the assembly area at Dela Rosa Access Road 2. After a long ride up north and a few hours of peaceful sleep on the bus, TrueLogic was more than ready for a breather.

ALL FUN AND GAMES

Upon arrival at the venue, host Chewy Buhion called the shots and split the company into five teams: Yellow, Green, Red, Blue, and Orange. And the fun commenced!

THE SQUARE ROOT OF A TEAM

We take every game seriously, even ice breakers. For the Perfect Square activity, all the members of each team were tasked to form a square with blindfolds on – the team with the best square wins. This urged people to strategize as a team while working together without their sense of sight. Despite the great efforts from all teams, the Blue Team won this round.

GIANT JENGA, BABY!

The second activity for the day was Giant Jenga. The Jenga tower was placed in the middle of the field and a member from each team took turns pulling out blocks from the tower. The rules were the same as the original game, just on a bigger scale.

After several rounds, it was down to the Green Team and Yellow Team. But the game ended when the tower toppled during Green Team’s turn. The Yellow Team won!

WHISPER ME MINEFIELD

This is where it gets tricky. The organizers set up the platform and scattered half-filled plastic cups with colored plastic balls on top. It was a confusing arrangement but when Chewy called it a minefield, everything made sense.

While wearing blindfolds, a member of the team has to make it from one point to the other through the guidance of their team leader’s voice without stomping on any of the plastic cups. Each team’s tactic was unique and team leaders had their own ways of giving directions – it was a treat to watch. Amongst all the teams, the Red Team had the most members across the platform, securing their win.

FETCH A PAIL OF WATER

The hardest activity of all was the Bucket Game. Five members of the team had to soak a sponge with pool water and fill up their team’s buckets. Five others were in charge of tying the bucket with a rope while another five members had to lift the bucket and pour the contents onto another bucket (a little complicated, we know).

The team with the most water in their final bucket wins. Although the Green Team was the first to fill their buckets, the Blue Team was the true victor.

DODGE ME NOT

TrueLogic moved to the beach for a wild game of dodgeball. At this point, the rain poured but that did not dampen our competitive spirits.

The dodgeball games were a cinematic treat. John Pangan from the Content Team dominated the field and impressed the crowd with the tricks of the trade and Neo-esque moves. Chill Repedro outdid his other teammates as well in the later rounds. But in the end, the Blue Team triumphed.

AND THE WINNERS ARE…

Before the Night Socials started, CEO Itamar announced the overall winners for the day’s team building activities.
In 3rd Place was the Red Team with a prize of Php7,000. Coming in on 2nd place was Itamar’s team, winning Php10,000. The crowd went wild for the frontrunners: the Blue Team. Itamar handed the champions a grand total of Php15,000 for their victorious win.

A LITTLE PARTY NEVER HURT NOBODY

Chewy again hosted the Night Socials and some Truelogic employees played a round of drinking games to set the mood. It was TrueLogic’s own band No Index (Jentri Fule, Shaw Morales, Tim Bienvenida, Pocholo Torres) that truly lit up the night.

The night is never lonely with friends, tunes to sing, and a few (or many) drinks. For the #TrueIdols jamming session, there were special performances headed by our very own Itamar who jammed by playing the guitar and the drums. There were also powerful performances from Jayson, CJ, Jill, Kat, Jigger, Berns, Ina and Dale and many others that completed the night. We have such a talented bunch of people.

After #TrueSessions, the last people standing huddled by the Karaoke machine and sang the night away.

MORNING SPORTS

At TrueLogic, we never say no to a game. On the last morning in Bataan, there were basketball and volleyball tournaments, as well as friendly rounds of badminton and table tennis. Never mind that some players are still having some kind of hang-over, they just went on to play all for the sake of sportsmanship and camaraderie.

The winning teams were as follows:

Badminton – Jill Pacquing and Inna Espiritu
Volleyball – Blue Team (Sam, Chill, Merjohn, Coey, Akai)
Table Tennis – Ina Tuason
Basketball – Blue Team (Merjohn, Anton, Junnel, Lester, Allen) and Red Team (Rod, Atong, Weng)

Other than the fun of it, #SweatEatOut2017 reminded the team how wonderful it is to be working alongside individuals who are not only dedicated to their work, but who are also passionate and competitive outside of their day jobs.

Nothing beats working and playing with a family. ‘Til next year, team!

The TrueLogic family knows how to balance work and play, allowing us to drive great results without the burnout.

Our annual movie night was held last April 28, a well-timed special non-working holiday in Metro Manila. Our last superhero-themed event — the Halloween party — highlighted DC heroes and villains, so it was only fair that this one drew attention to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

About 105 participants from the different departments (OPS, SAL, FIN, CNT, MKT, HRA, IT, RAD) met up at the entrance of Greenbelt 3 Cinema 2 for the 7:35 p.m. showing of Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.”

A BREAK FROM THE COMPUTER SCREEN

The TrueLogic family is more than familiar with the quintessential office scene: sitting in front of a computer for about a third of the day, every day. And, at some point, we tend to get wacky, don’t we? So there are some days when we just want to unwind.

Movie Night was the perfect opportunity for us to kick back, relax, and enjoy the screen — the movie screen, that is. What a refreshing change from the computer screens we face every day.

Even better were the free snacks to enjoy as we witnessed the Guardians save the Galaxy a second time around. (Thank you for arranging this, HRA Department!)

A LESSON ON WORKING TOGETHER

There’s no denying that the Guardians of the Galaxy are an unusual bunch.

Peter Quill is the half-human, half-Celestial Star-Lord who enjoys bantering with Rocket Raccoon, a bounty hunter and mercenary with a chip on his shoulder. Gamora is an orphan who Thanos groomed to be an assassin, while Drax the Destroyer is a formidable brute who actually has a soft heart. Of course, who can forget the adorable baby tree, Groot?

They remind the TrueLogic family that diversity is an asset.

Our differences allow us to work off each other’s strengths and compensate for weaknesses; to throw ideas back and forth, and gain insight from one another. This diversity helps us become better at our jobs.

We may not have the enhanced capabilities or the super cool gadgets to save an entire galaxy, but we’re using our resources just right to make an impact in the online world.

Watching “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 ” was a thrilling way to take a breather from work and enjoy the summer. We look forward to ending the season with a bang at #SweatEatOut2017. Until then!

Not to blow our own horn, but at Truelogic, we work hard. Something we’re equally great at? Knowing how to party. Last December 17, the entire team donned their tie-dye shirts and ironic, thrift-store outfits to take over the Privé Luxury Club at The Fort Strip, BGC for a night of sick beats and groovy dance moves.

The doors opened at 5:30 PM, and with it, access to the beloved party staple: the photoboth. Early birds had a blast showing off their hipster and hippie ensembles while waiting for the other party guests to arrive. After exhausting their poses (or were taking a break in between their photoshoot) employees and guests cooled off at the bar and buffet for pre-drinks and light meal. The diligent staff of Privé made sure to prepare a scrumptious spread for everyone as they waited for the official program to start.

FIND YOUR MATCH — OR DANCE!

To kick off the night, host Chewy Buhion led a game called Find Your Match. The rules were simple: bracelet pairs that were given out to guests during registration should match another person’s. Those who found themselves flying solo had to engage in an epic dance-off that showcased their dance skills. Cesar Jucutan and Leo Lutero pumped up the crowd with their sick moves, earning them both a win.

With everybody’s full attention now on the stage, Truelogic’s General Manager Bernard San Juan III officially welcomed everyone to the party by sharing the two emotions he feels every time he steps into the office: a sense of achievement when things are going well and an even stronger sense of hope for things to go better the next time around.

He wrapped up his speech with the best wishes for the coming year — but, before that, he wished everyone luck on the much awaited event of the night: the series of year-end group performances.

THE MAIN EVENT (WITH A SIDE OF RAFFLE PRIZES)

In an unprecedented move, the Truelogic team was split into five groups: the combined forces of Ops, Workforce, and Training made up the first team; Sales had the honor of being the second group; R&D, Marketing, HRA, IT, and Finance peopled the third; the fourth group consisted of the creatives in Content; and, last but not the least, was the diverse mix of Social Media, PPC, Web Dev, PDQA, and Motion Graphics representing the fifth group. As there were only three spots for the five determined teams to battle over, the competition was understandably tight this year.

To keep things interesting, prizes were raffled off between every performance.

THE GROOVIEST GETUPS OF THE NIGHT

After everyone had their turn at showing how hardcore hip they were as a group, it was time to call on the people who stood out and owned their Hippie or Hipster look as individuals. Anica Alfelor, Maya Guilatco, Natali Maharaban, Issa Bautista, and Angie Duarte were the five peace-loving Hippie finalists, while Reed Gabagat, Edison Pablo, Pauline Feraren, Sam Pingol, and Lester Santiago filled out the beanie-wearing, Starbucks-toting ranks of the Hipsters. To complete the event, each candidate was asked why they were the hippiest-hipster or the most hipster-like hipster of the night. Their answers were both ingenious and true to their character — they really wanted to win this!

THE PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARDS

What would the year-end party be without looking back at the past year and acknowledging the stars who shone bright for the company? We’ll never know, because the People’s Choice Awards recognized the most dedicated employees of the past year:

For Sales, Pao Durias was awarded the Chillax Award for never getting shocked, pressured, or nervous about anything and somehow always delivering. On the other hand, CJ Masungsong got the Customer Whisperer Award for being the first person on the list to call when irate customers need to be kept calm.

Operations gave Albert Garrigo the YOLO Award for always being willing to take risks, while Sam Enriquez got the Savage Award for being the bad-ass who had the guts to say and do what nobody else would do.

Grisel Garcia was crowned the Pop Culture Pro for always being up-to-date on the latest shows and trends. Meanwhile Andy Carolino got the Bermuda Triangle Award because, somehow, the things on her desk always seemed to get lost and never return. Here’s to hoping that she doesn’t leave her award on her desk.

R&D and Marketing’s Avi Baladad was named the punniest with the Punny Award for her clever wordplay. Rachelle Tan, meanwhile, received the Mama Bear Award for being the much-appreciated caretaker of the bunch.

The Support Groups’ very own Eugene Pidlaoan got “The Man” Award for always making sure that everybody followed the rules and that nobody got into trouble with the boss. Meanwhile, Tin Refuerzo’s Neatest Nook Award is a testament to her desk, which is so clean, you could eat off of it (we neither confirm nor deny trying this out).

There were also general awards which were open to the Truelogic team as a whole:

Andy Carolino won the Groovy Award for her constant, all-around good vibes. CJ Masungsong won the Butterfly Award for literally knowing and being friends with everyone.

The Pen Stealer Award was a tie between Denis Ayeng and Tazeana Tan, who both have a rep for always walking off with other people’s pens.

Rob Rosales won the Forever on Fleek Award because his default outfits always make him look on-point. Meanwhile, Jymyl Bandong won Rookie of the Year for being such a rockstar at his job.

Finally, Tazeana Tan, Ashley Petallano, and Ivan Noche shared the Hip-Star Award. It was a testament to their outstanding attendance record in 2016.

THE GAME CHANGERS OF THE YEAR

Things got serious as, after the awarding of the People’s Choice Awards, CEO Itamar Gero and the department managers stepped on stage to recognize the individuals who had been crucial to the successful operations of the team in the past year. They are as follows:

SEO: Elzer Ramos                                                                         Ops: Sam Enriquez

Sales: Paolo Durias and CJ Masungsong                        Content: Mike Dimaano, Tazeana Tan, Andy Carolino

R&D: Bordy Bordeos and Jymyl Bandong                      Marketing: Imee Roa

Finance: Pam Fernandez                                                          Itamar’s Pick: Lydia Rodillo

   HRA: Lydia Rodillo

THE MOMENT THAT WE’VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR…

By this time, the judges already had results for the Best in Costume and the Best Performance awards.

For the first category, Pauline Feraren and Angie Duarte took home the prizes for being the best-dressed and most in-character of the Hipster and Hippie bunches, respectively. Both hail from the Content Department and their awards are a testimony to the team’s creativity.

The results for the Group Performances made the crowd go wild: In first place and winning Php 20,000 was the Content Department with their intriguing skit about Hippies kidnapping Hipsters in the name of peace. Last year’s grand prize winner, the Sales Department, came up second, bagging a pot of Php 10,000. The merry, meta band of Social Media, PPC, Web Dev, PDQA, and Motion Graphics took home the third place prize with Php 5,000.

Before closing the night, Itamar was invited on stage to draw the winner of the major raffle: an LG43″ LED TV and DVD Player. Since Truelogic has been active for seven years, he stated that the seventh name drawn would be the lucky duck who got to take home the prize. This turned out to be none other than Hipster of the Night, Pauline Feraren.

With the program run through and the grand prizes awarded, the party was officially ending — but the night was just starting. After bidding everybody a happy holidays, Itamar gave the floor over to DJ Therese Garcia, who had everyone busting out their moves in short order. It was the perfect ending to a great night. Truly, nothing could have ended the year better for Truelogic. Until the next!

Straying from last year’s fun-filled Carnival theme, TrueLogic took over Arkham Asylum during the Halloween party last October 28.

Three teams — the Admin Room, the Middle Room, and the Operations Room —put in a lot of effort and transformed their respective areas into their vision of the DC Universe’s renowned psychiatric ward. It’s safe to say that the TrueLogic employees had a blast decorating the rooms, posing at the photo booth, and planning their DC-heroes-and-villains-inspired tricks.

AN INSANE HAPPENING

To kick off the Halloween party, the entire TrueLogic team gathered around the hallway for the introduction of the room decoration and costume contest judges: Zahra Bianca Saldua, Mary Kath Jane, and Carla Delos Reyes.

At around 5pm, the beautiful panel began their private tour of each team’s decorated room. They visited the action-packed Operations Room first, took a scary tour around the Admin Room next, and visited the Middle Room’s madhouse last.

While the judges deliberated and tallied their scores, the entire team gathered in the hallway for the costume competition. Keith Rosales, Mike Dimaano, and Ryan Reyes took over hosting duties as the contestants strutted down the red carpet dressed as their favorite DC heroes and villains.

The fun didn’t end there, though. The TrueLogic team, divided into nine groups prior to the event, played some very interesting Halloween games. First, their ick-factor tolerance was challenged when they were tasked to identify the mysterious contents of several baby diapers using only their sense of smell and taste. Later on, everyone also had a fun time mummifying eight brave souls one-handed with rolls of tissue paper.

Every TrueLogic employee is competitive and aims only for the best, so it’s no surprise that the Halloween games were both exciting and intense. After the Halloween activities, the entire team gathered once more to cool off and attend the Town Hall meeting before the announcement of winners and the much awaited dinner.

A WICKED ENDING

Everybody needs a positive boost once in a while, and that’s exactly what Town Hall did for the team. After reading out positive feedback and welcoming the newest members of the TrueLogic team, the hosts proceeded to announce the winners of this year’s competition.

For the room decoration contest, the criteria were as follows: 30% Design and Creativity, 30% Adherence to the Theme, 30% Group Effort and Organization, and 10% Overall Impression. The winning team would collect Php 10,000, while the 2nd placer and 3rd placer stood to take home Php 7,000 and Php 5,000 respectively.

Reinforcing their position as the Halloween room decoration champs, the Middle Room bagged first place for the fourth year in a row with their Joker-infiltrated Arkham Asylum concept. The Admin Room came in second, while the Ops Room nabbed third place.

Unlike the stricter criteria for room design, the TrueLogic costume contest kept things simple. The sole basis for judging was how insanely Arkham Asylum the contestants were. Gary Ferrolino, who impressed the discerning crowd with his spot-on impression of the Scarecrow, came in 1st place, bagging Php 5,000 in the process. Meanwhile, Hydy Gutierrez’s Harley Quinn and Anica Alfelor’s Poison Ivy won 2nd place and 3rd place. They received Php 3,000 and Php 2,000 as prize money, respectively.

As for the Halloween games, Team 3 won 1st place and was awarded Php 4,500. Team 5 came in 2nd and received Php 2,500, while Team 2 came in 3rd and won Php 2,000.

After congratulating one another for a job well done, the team capped off the night with some mouthwatering fare from buffet.

Now that Halloween is over, however, the entire team is all too ready for the next TrueLogic company event: the year-end Christmas party.

What will the team get up to this time?

Once again, SEO Shots didn’t fail to deliver what it promised: guiding SEO and digital marketing professionals in their journey to digital success. Last August 19, SEO Organization Philippines, together with TrueLogic Online Solutions, Inc., hosted the third take of their free six-series seminar at A Space Makati.

This month, we’re joined by a new batch of speakers: Marc Samson, Senior SEO at Growth Rocket; Carlo Ople, Director at Internet & Mobile Marketing Association of the Philippines (IMMAP) and founder of Unbox.ph; and our very own TrueLogic General Manager Bernard San Juan III.

LET’S GET TECHNICAL

Marc Samson enlightened us with his take on technical SEO for e-commerce websites. He highlighted the three areas that every SEO and digital marketing professional should focus on: crawling, indexing, and ranking.

Marc provided us with a thorough understanding of how crawling works and why it should be the first step when you’re optimizing e-commerce websites. He moved on to indexing and the best practices to go about it. Lastly, he explained how to boost your click-through along with website ranking.

Technical SEO is something that you’d do on top of your on-page and off-page. You could already be ranking. But when you implement technical SEO, chances are you’ll boost that

The technical aspect of SEO is just as important as doing on-page and off-page, and this is what most website owners miss in their strategy. As Marc explained, “Technical SEO is something that you’d do on top of your on-page and off-page. You could already be ranking. But when you implement technical SEO, chances are you’ll boost that.”

WHAT’S HAPPENING IN DIGITAL?

If there’s one thing that digital marketers and SEOs understand the most, it’s that the digital landscape is never constant. And Carlo Ople couldn’t have explained it better. He provided a view of today’s digital landscape and explained the five key trends that are relevant in the Philippine context:

  1. Fragmented Mobile Internet Structure – The internet infrastructure is becoming mobile-based, which has a strong impact on how advertising in the Philippines works.
  2. The Free Facebook Effect – Create content that will allow you to leverage free Facebook to get your message across your audience more effectively.
  3. New Realities for Search Content Discovery – A lot of things happening outside of Google can make search a little more interesting.
  4. Shift to Mobile Means a Shift in Focus – With mobile being dominant, product development and content creation takes a different turn.
  5. The Rise of YouTube Creators – There’s a lot to learn from YouTube content creators who are now making it big, especially those coming from the next generation.

THE STORY OF GOOGLE TOLD THROUGH ALGORITHMS

Google’s story is unlike any other—it’s told through algorithms. The different algorithms released by Google had, in one way or another, shaped how the search industry works and what Google is now today. And, this is a story that Bernard shared with us during his talk.

Bernard covered the four important algorithms that serve as the cornerstone of today’s search landscape:

  • Hummingbird – It’s not an algorithm; it’s THE algorithm.
  • Panda – The algorithm that hunts down duplicate, thin, and low-quality content.
  • Penguin – The algorithm that looks for “who got paid to vouch”, or websites with paid links.
  • Pigeon – The algorithm that makes local search results appear more prominently and cohesively.

Bonus:

  • The Phantom Update –The update that rewards websites with great content; it’s a reverse Panda.

SEO Shots III brought knowledge sharing to a new level, as thought leaders arm digital marketers and SEOs with an in-depth understanding of the industry. We’re looking forward to another round of SEO Shots next month, and we hope to see you there!

TrueLogic recently achieved yet another major milestone, and what better way to celebrate this achievement than do what we all love to do—sing our hearts out in a fun rockeoke night? Despite the heavy rain, the entire company came together on July 21 (Yes, a Thursday night!) at Handlebar Makati for the “True Idols 2016” event.

This jam night served as an opportunity to reflect on where we’ve been, reaffirm our commitment for the future, and of course, showcase our (hidden) musical prowess. Yes people! Truelogic employees don’t just work hard, we also know how to rock and party the night away!

FOOD AND MUSIC: A PERFECT COMBINATION

The band got things started with a few songs, while everyone enjoyed a sumptuous feast. The buffet table was filled with mouthwatering barbecued ribs, pasta, fruits, salad and more.
